About Global Sports

Since 2000, The Global Professional Sports organization is dedicated to helping to shape the lives of young athletes through our teams, camps and competitive events.

In 2000 GPS started running camps with top college and high school coaches developing skills as well as self-esteem. Our innovative coaching style is a combination of teaching the required fundamentals to become a successful player as well as allowing for creativity. Several players trained by GPS have become accomplished high school and college players.

In 2008, GPS formed its first two teams. In our short period of existence, Our teams have successfully competed in local, regional and National events. In 2012 the GPS team went to its 3rd AAU Nationals in San Francisco and making it all the way to the finals. Global Sports has 10 teams from 4th through 10th grade.

Global Professional Sports Coaches


John Ballesteros (JP )

JP played college basketball at Lehman College (Division III) while pursuing a degree in Recreation Education.

Upon completion of his college eligibility, JP left Lehman College joined the Riverside Hawks AAU program where he became the Athletic Director, Head of Skill Development, and Director of Speed and Agility. In now his 7th year with the Riverside Hawks AAU program, JP has taken multiple teams to the AAU National Championships, including a final four appearance in 2011.

He has been instrumental in helping over 20 players achieve their goal of playing college basketball. He has also coached at the collegiate level as an Assistant Coach at Concordia College (Div. II) in Bronxville, NY.

 andremungincoach  Andrew Mungin

Andrew Mungin is the head coach of the 4th grade (10u) Riverside Hawks team.  Coach Mungin brings experience from both the high school and college level and is going on his 3rd year coaching with the Hawks. Coach Mungin played and coached for Julia Richmond high school in Manhattan and The City college of New York.Coach Mungin is extremely committed to the development of his players on and off the court.
Coach Mungin is currently pursing a degree in Physical Education at the City College of New York.



Danny Colon

Danny Colon grew up in Hell’s Kitchen and began playing basketball when he was 9 years-old. By his own admission, he was mediocre at best with and an attitude to match. Under masterful coaching and strong guidance, Danny matured into a very good point guard and great teammate leading his School of the Future HS team to the playoffs and city semi-finals in back-to-back years. Danny earned a scholarship to Jamestown College and finished his playing career at City College where he earned his degree.

In addition to coaching with Global Sports, Danny is an incredibly successful 3rd and 4th grade coach at Riverside where he has won locally, regionally and nationally.
